Biography

I’m Aleksander Walijewski and I’m a graphic artist based in Warsaw, Poland. I graduated with Masters degree from Graphic Design at University of Arts in Poznań, in Poster Studio of professor Grzegorz Marszałek (2019) and with Licentiate degree from Graphic Design and Advertising at Institute of Fine Arts in Kielce (2017).

I mostly design film/cultural/social posters and illustrations. I always try to reinterpret the subject I have to raise in order to surprise the viewer with intriguing, unusual idea that encourages to reflection. I usually achieve it by using metaphors, symbols, synthesis of idea and by creating something you could call „visual riddles”, which lead viewer to the right tracks and open field for interpretation.

My posters were seen at many international exhibitions in Poland, Switzerland, Spain, Finland, England, Russia, Serbia, Cyprus, USA, Mexico, Peru and Bolivia. I also participate in graphic competitions and my biggest achievements are: 1st place in competition for designing posters for 2017/2018 season in Ludwik Solski Theatre in Tarnow; 1st place in Honey Boy movie poster competition organized by Highsnobiety and Amazon; honorable mention in Polish Graphic Design Awards in self-edition poster category; honorable mention in poster competition organised by Polish Institute of National Remembrance celebrating 100 years of Polish Independence.
